you think a yakuza member cares if they can go to a public bathhouse, they have thier own. they are ranked as high as the gov’t in power. and in hawaii i have went wherever i wanted and i have tattoos on my neck…the reason bathhouses in japan, (not hawaii) ban tattoo is because they cannot tell which tattoos are yakuza related. and they dont want violence in thier business so they ban all tattoos therefore eliminating yakuza activity.

3:01 looks like a monk and a buddha head. Not in classic horimono style at all. It looks a bit like Shige’s style from Yellowblaze tattoo in Yokohama, but it seems a bit off. the proportions of the face are weird, but it could also be the perspective of the photo. At any rate not even close to ‘yakuza’ bodysuit style.

Don’t mean to bag on the videos, but they’re just inaccurate. Part I was closer to the truth. Also, Horimono is not exclusive to Yakuza, so calling it ‘Yakuza tattoo’ is wrong in the way ‘Biker-ink’ is wrong to describe tattoos not biker themed. Horimono in feudal Japan was traditionally worn by the underclass as well as tradepeople and firemen. Yakuza back then wore it to cover up forced criminal tattoos, but later traditionalized it and gave it a stigma. Give you an A for effort though.
